Best HIIT Workout Shoes: Nike Edition

Looking for new workout shoes that will get you through a HIIT workout? These shoes are great for short distance running and stable enough for strength training.

If you’re a workout class addict like me, having the right pair of shoes can make all the difference. I’ve discovered the perfect shoes from Nike that will carry you through any workout challenge. Let’s dive into my top HIIT workout shoes!

Best Overall – Nike Free Metcon

Cost: $120

For the past two years, the Nike Free Metcon has been my go-to HIIT shoe. It’s ideal for various high-intensity workouts, including Orange Theory, Barry’s Bootcamp, and F45. Unlike some weightlifting shoes that can be stiff, the Free Metcon has a sturdy base perfect for lifting while offering flexibility for running or walking. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors to suit your style.

Best for Strength Training – Nike Metcon

Cost: $150

Similar to the Free Metcon but with added stability, the Nike Metcon is perfect for strength-focused classes. While not recommended for running, these shoes are perfect in strength workouts like Orange Theory Lift 45, F45 Strength, and Barry’s Bootcamp double floor. Even in seemingly pure strength HIIT classes, the quick transitions between exercises still involves a cardio element.

Best for Running – Nike Free Run

Cost: $110

Ideal for shorter runs and lighter lifts, the Nike Free Run provides stability with a less thick and cushy base compared to many running shoes. It’s a versatile option for various workouts and was my go-to before discovering the Nike Free Metcon.

Best Design – Nike Super Rep

Cost: $105-$150

The Nike Super Rep has a unique look, specifically designed for absorbing impact in high-intensity workouts. While I haven’t personally worked out in them, I have tried them on in store. Keep in mind they are higher off the ground, which I am not used to. I would say this shoe seems more style over function.

Best Budget – Nike Legend Essential

Cost: $65

You don’t need to break the bank for a good workout shoe. The Nike Legend Essential, at $65, has received great reviews for both lifting and running. With a sturdy yet flexible base, these shoes are perfect for a HIIT-style class and come in several cute colors.

I hope these Nike recommendations leave you well-prepared for your next HIIT class! What are your favorite HIIT workout shoes? Drop it in the comments below!

  1. I’ve never done a HITT workout and made it all the way through… maybe because my shoes suck and I had a hole in the toe. Inspiring me to try again with the right shoe!!
