My Work From Home Schedule
It can be difficult to find a daily routine when working remotely. Here is the work from home schedule that keeps me on track!
As remote work becomes the new norm, I’m right there in the mix, navigating the challenges of transitioning from daily in-person routines to a fully remote job in a different state. A few years later and I still struggle with a lack of structure, finding myself rolling out of bed just before clocking in. But, I’ve managed to turn things around by crafting my ideal daily routine, bringing a sense of productivity to both my work and personal life. In this blog post I am sharing my ideal work from home schedule. It’s more of an “ideal” routine. Life happens, and that’s okay. I don’t beat myself up if I stray from this routine, but I do my best to stick to it most days.
7:00 AM – Good Morning
I make a conscious effort to wakeup at the same time every day. I grant myself a bit of extra sleep on the weekends, but I try not to mess too much with my sleep cycle. With a strict 8:30 work start, waking up at 7 carves out “me time” before the workday.
7:10 AM – Me Time
This chunk of time varies daily – it might be a morning workout, the gym, chores, or just chilling on my computer. Having this pre-work “me time” has been a great way to start my day.
8:00 AM – Shower + Breakfast
Post-morning workout, I have a quick shower, get dressed for work, and eat breakfast. If I’m running late, I sometimes eat at my desk while reviewing my schedule for the day, but I try to keep that to a minimum.
8:30 AM – Start Work
Pretty self explanatory here. I log in at 8:30 AM sharp and dive into work.
12:00 PM – Lunch Break
Opting for an 8:30 start only gives me 30 minutes for lunch. This is enough time to eat and maybe squeeze in a quick walk for some fresh air. Thanks to meal prepping, I usually avoid cooking during lunch. Occasionally I’ll use this time to work on my blog.
12:30 PM – Back to Work
Continue working! Sometimes I’ll bring a fun drink back to my desk to keep me motivated.
3:00 PM – Quick Break
Around 3 I take a short break. I sometimes get into an afternoon slump, and this break helps me return with renewed focus for the rest of the day.
5:00 PM – Log Off
Most days, I manage to sign off right at 5. There are exceptions where I work a bit late, but my regular hours stop at 5.
6:00 PM – Dinner
Dinner varies – leftovers, cooking a new meal prep, or the occasional order-in. I make it a point to tidy up the kitchen and run the dishwasher, setting myself up for success the next day.
7:00 PM – Unwind
During this time, I handle errands, meet friends, watch a show… It’s my free time to do whatever feels right that day. I aim to be back home and in “chill mode” by 9.
10:00 PM – Lights Out
Sometimes, I wind down with a bit of reading before calling it a night. Prioritizing sleep has been a huge help for my mental and physical health.
This routine is not always reality, and that’s okay! I hope sharing my work from home routine has inspired you to create your own ideal remote work schedule. Have a routine that works for you? Share it in the comments!
On wfh days, I wake up at 4:50 when Matthew gets up, go back to sleep until 7:30, stay in my pjs all day and work! Usually with a mid day gym trip (which I change out of pjs for hehe). Then I close computer by 4 usually and commence after work fun and games! Eat dinner around 5:30 and bed by 8:30 usually.
Hard to stay motivated, but I think you’re spot on with routine being root of motivation! Thanks for starting convo❤️
